New Year's Eve in Brazil - Traditions and superstitions

Recorded on New Year's Eve at Riviera de São Lourenço, Brazil, the show highlights the unique characteristics of Brazilian New Year parties including traditional dinner, clothing and superstitions. We visited a dinner organized for residents of a building by the beach and asked them about some of their promises and wishes for this new year while showcasing the strong symbolism of elements present in virtually all Brazilian New Year's Eve cememonies and parties. We talked about colours of clothes, food like pomegranate, grapes and lentils, the tradition of the sea and jumping over 7 waves, as well as offering flowers to Yemanja.
